In this chapter, we are going to give the forms of the present tense of some infinitives ending in ‘ir’.
Example:
Infinitive: remplir (to fill up or to fill out)
Stem = rempl-
Ending = -ir
The present tense endings for these verbs are:

Notice the ‘iss' added between the stem and the ending in the plural.
Here are some common verbs conjugated on the same pattern:

rougir | Ils rougissent pour un rien. | They blush over nothing. |

grandir | Ils grandissent vite. | They’re growing up fast. |
vieillir | Nous vieillissons trop tôt. | We grow old too soon. |
grossir | Ils grossissent parce qu'ils mangent trop. | They're getting fat because they eat too much. |
maigrir | Nous maigrissons quand nous travaillons. | We lose weight when we work. |
ralentir | Il ralentit à cause de la pluie. | He's slowing down because of the rain. |
atterrir | Ils atterrissent près d'ici. | They're landing near here. |
obéir | Elle obéit à ses parents. | She obeys her parents. |
